Bay Mare – by Stedinger out of Florestan/Don Primero mare. She is very like Florestan, her grandsire and shows the typical Florestan beautiful head (see Florestan in the diary) and lovely temperament. We showed her at the BEF Futurity show at The Grange in 2009 and she was awarded an excellent ‘First Premium’ which was a creditable outcome for her first outing. ’Suzie’ is 3 this year and was started in this spring. She is an easy and sweet mare and she is now in foal to the new star Trakehner stallion, Heinrich Heine, (Hochhadel) who is tipped as one of the great young stallions at the State Stud at Celle. She has also been backed and ridden away. I don’t think the 3 year olds need to do too much, provided that they are hacking and gently schooling then they can have another winter off to grow and mature and she will have her foal in April. She is such a pretty mare and very like her Florestan mother, Fabriana. When we took her out, she was easy to load and sensible at the show so we were very pleased with her.
