2012 a great start to the year

Our first foal has arrived 10 days early on 11th March – my lovely eventing mare The Blue Filly (ID/TB), who went to Elementary Dressage level has just produced a foal from the wonderful stallion Benetton Dream – she is Belle du Jour – or Bella and a wonderful chestnut filly. Photos to follow!

This is Horatio our 2011 beautiful bay gelding out of the Stedinger mare . The mare is by Stedinger, an increasingly fashionable stallion and the sire is a Hochhadel son who stands at Celle, Heinrich Heine. I think he is the best we have bred and with Rubenstein and Florestan in the grandparents line, he is assured not only of rideability, but also top class paces and a great hind leg. His beauty speaks for itself. This Spring 2012 he has started a little work in the arena with our Parelli trainer, Lavinia and is showing how clever and obliging he is.

Di Caprio/Showmaker 2 year old

This beautiful 2 year old gelding is a stunner. He belongs to Joan Farquharson – out of her exceptional Di Caprio mare by Showmaker (Sandro Hit). He is the colour of burnt caramel with the most unusual facial markings just like Joan’s international horse, Leopardo, ridden to Grand Prix by Isobel Wessels. He is a little packet of energy with powerful paces. He has spent the winter in and is being started with the Parelli method and has now been sat on and is walking and trotting round the arena . He is showing great talent ant a wonderful ability to ’sit’ and push into his transitions. With the exceptional calm temperament and natural athletic ability, this horse will find advanced work easy.

Saladdin – bay gelding

This long legged athletic bay gelding was born on the 1st March 2010. He is by Showmaker (Sandro Hit) and out of my lovely elegant mare Fabriana (Florestan/Don Primero). He is charming and well handled and has fabulous paces. He is going to be a tall chap – his dam is 17hh but he is sweet and gentle and obedient and a lovely easy project for anyone. He is very gentle indeed and is just being started by Lavinia with her gentle Parelli method and will soon be trotting round the arena with a rider!

Sahara yearling 2 yr old filly – Weltmeyer/Showmaker

This stunning chestnut filly was born in early March 2010. She is by Showmaker (Sandro Hit) and out of my favorite mare, Fortuna by Florestan/Weltmeyer who I rode successfully to Medium. Sahara is very intelligent, confident and well handled and will make a superb project. She has great charisma and 3 superb paces. She is lovely! She has started being educated this spring with the Parelli method and is proving an intelligent, soft hearted and willing project. She was the easiest of the three 2 year olds to start and is very keen to please and is trotting willingly round the arena and longing to do more.

Susie and Derry were both back and ridden away last year. Susie had a most enchanting bay colt foal by the HOCHADEL stallion Heinrich Heine who is based at the Hanoverian State Stud at Celle. Since Susie is by Stedinger I hope there will be renewed interest in her foals. Forest Lodge Horatio (Georgie) was born in April 2011 and he has the most wonderful paces. Susie is in foal to Londontime so we hope for great things in May 2012.

Showmaker

We have three fabulous two year olds by Showmaker. He is widely regarded at one of the best stallions standing in this country with a fantastic temperament and wonderful movement as you can see. In July 2009, Garry Williams and Showmaker were the Medium Champions at the Hickstead Masters with a score of over 73%. His sire Showstar has produced many wonderful rideable horses including the lovely 7 year old mare, Streisand who came 2nd at the Hickstead Masters, ridden by Michel Assouline. His grandsire, Sandro Hit is the grandsire of the 5 year olds who are being trained on and ready for sale, Stormont who is ready for sale this spring, Sans Souci is producing her second foal by Londontime and Samant is being trained by Helena Charlesworth.

Stedinger

We have three 3 year olds being backed this year by this magnificent stallion. He was the unequivocal winner of the 2002 Oldenburg Stallion Championship and sire of 12 licensed sons. His own sire, Sandro Hit has become one of the most sought after contemporary sires. Stedinger’s dam Bold Fantasy did a superb mare test with a loose jumping score of 10, a rider score of 9.0 and an overall score of 8.67, so we hope that one or two of these three year olds will jump as well as having wonderful paces.

Verden and Celle, 14th January 2010

Despite the snow in England and Hannover and my leg being in plaster, we have just had a wonderful trip to Germany. Thanks to Ina and Helmut Arians who drove us around we saw 4 wonderful hours of the best stallions from the state stud Celle which were showcased at Verden. We love the powerful grey stallion, Avagon and I hope to use him this year on Fortuna and the smart liver chestnut Floriscount, (pictured here), a stunnning son of Florencio who we hope to use on Fabriana and Dinera. There were some wonderful Lauries Crusador sons and we are tracking them down for The Blue Filly and Sans Souci, so our breeding plan for 2010 is set! We are waiting for the three Showmaker foals, the first of which is due at the end of February!

Florestan, Sire of two broodmares

Florestan is an outstanding sire. He has already produced over 50 approved stallion sons including the Bundeschampion, Fidermark. He stamps his youngstock with outstanding basic paces, a beautiful head, lovely temperaments and excellent rideability.

Look at my three year old Sans Souci, for a typical beautiful Florestan head!
